Oli rebuffs ‘deal with NC’ to support Sitaula in Jhapa
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has stated that his party has not played any role in making Nepali Congress candidate Krishna Prasad Sitaula victorious in Jhapa, Constituency-3, in upcoming elections.CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has stated that his party has not played any role in making Nepali Congress candidate Krishna Prasad Sitaula victorious in Jhapa, Constituency-3, in upcoming elections.
Speaking at an election rally in Birtamod on Thursday, Oli said that his party will support Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate Rajendra Lingden from the constituency and that the UML will leave no stone unturned to make him victorious.
Responding to a report published in eKantipur that stated ‘match fixing’ in order to make Situala victorious, Oli said, “We have not done any ‘match fixing’ deal. We will help RPP candidate Lingden win at any cost.”
Oli said that his party decided to support Lingden as the Nepali Congress betrayed him by backtracking from its commitment.
Earlier, the NC had decided to field Sitaula, who had been contesting in the past elections from Jhapa-3, for the upcoming federal parliamentary election under proportional representation category and support Lingden in the constituency.
But Sitaula refused his candidacy under PR category and decided to contest the elections.
