A camel named Sher Mohammad has been mobilised in the villages for the election publicity campaign in Kapilvastu Constituency-1 (B).
People gather to see Mohammad’s campaign in the villages as they had not seen the animal before.
An 11-year-old camel has been brought from Ajmer, the northern state of Rajasthan in India.
Independent candidate Raj Bahadur Chaudhary has used the animal in his election campaign in the constituency. Chaudhary has stood as an independent candidate in Constituency-1 (B) of the provincial assembly election.
Chaudhary’s supporters are busy canvassing for votes, travelling in a cart pulled by the camel. They have rented the cart for four days from Thursday. His supporters collected donations and hired the cart and its driver for the election campaign.
“People gather to see the camel in villages. Then I distribute leaflets and pamphlets to them,” said candidate Chaudhary, sharing happily that the camel had become a good medium for publicity.
Five to six supporters of Chaudhary who go around in the cart are busy with the publicity campaign. Harishankar Chaudhary, who went to see the camel with his three children, said: “My children are happy to see a camel, which they saw only in books.”
The camel is 12.5 feet long and 8.5 feet tall, said cameleer Abdul Mangal. It took them more than four months to bring in the animal.
