Bomb explodes targeting election candidates in Tehrathum

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was exploded targeting the election candidates of left alliance at Angdim in Chathar Rural Municipality-1 of Tehrathum district on Saturday.

The candidates were on their way to address an election assembly when the incident took place.

UML Politburo member and left alliance Proportional Representation candidate from Tehrathum Bijay Subba was heading to Sukrabarey Bazaar to address an election assembly when the bomb went off in Teliya River near the border of Tehrathum and Dhankuta districts.

The explosion caused damages to the vehicle in which Subba along with other party members were travelling. Leaders and cadres escaped the explosion unhurt, according to Inspector Ganesh Raj Koirala of the Area Police Office.

Police said that the bomb was hidden in a pile of mud on the road. The miscreants are yet to be identified.
