IED goes off in two election centres of Nawalparasi, 6 injured [Update]

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) went off in two separate polling centres of Nawalparasi district on Thursday. The explosion occurred while the voters were in queue to cast their ballots.
One of the explosions took place in Divyajyoti Adharbhut School in Devchuli Municipality-12 at around 10:30 am. One person was injured in the blast.
The victim has been identified as Indra Bahadur Nepali. It is learnt that he is out of danger.
The voting was halted for an hour following the blast which was subsequently resumed.
There are 1,977 voters registered at the voting centre. Police suspect the miscreants could have planted the bomb in the school premises few days ago before the elections. The area is a stronghold of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal.
Chief District Officer Sambhu Marasini along with the chief of security agencies had reached the incident site to take stock of the situation.
Voters who had fled the election centre following the blast have returned and the voting has resumed, it is learnt.
Likewise, another blast occurred at Raja Mahatma Secondary School in Panchanagar of Bardaghat Municipality. Five people were injured in the blast.
An eyewitness Rabin Chapagain said that the IED was planted inside a redbull-can hidden under a heap of sand.
The injured ones are receiving treatment at local medical. They are out of danger.
A huge cache of security personnel have been deployed in the polling centre following the blast. There are 1,941 voters registered at the polling centre.
