Stalled vote counting to begin from today in Syangja

However, the meeting called by Chief Election Officer for 8 am has not been started yet after the party leaders failed to show up and the counting could be further delayed.
Election Commission has sent a team led by Joint Secretary Sushil Koirala to resolve the issue and the team has already held an all-party meeting on Saturday and convinced the parties to begin the counting.
Counting was stalled after the left alliance demanded re-voting at five different polling centres of Constituency-2 where it accused the Nepali Congress of capturing the booths at Sekham, Malyangkot and Darsingh.
Alliance's candidate Padma Aryal was attacked and injured when she was going to monitor the booths at those places on the polling day.
Chief District Officer Mahesh Acharya said the counting would begin from today after holding an all-party meeting. "Yesterday's all-party meeting has almost finalised the issue and the parties are now ready for the counting following the Election Commission's letter to begin the counting," CDO Acharya said.
While the counting of Arghakhanchi has started from Saturday 10:30 pm after holding the polls of two polling centres of Neta polling station on Saturday.
The voting was stalled after the ballot papers were found without signature of the polling officer.
Chief District Officer of Arghakhanchi Khim Raj Bhusal said CPN Maoist Centre leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has been leading there with a margin of some 4000 votes.
EC officials said Syangja is the only district where counting has not started yet.
