CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has pledged to make the country prosperous, honouring the people’s aspiration for progress.
Stressing that the people had given the communist alliance a thumping majority after decades of his political struggle, Oli said he would not miss the opportunity this time.
After being elected to the House of Representatives from Jhapa-5, Oli visited his home district to thank voters. He joined victory rallies and corner meetings on Monday and Tuesday before returning to the Capital.
In two days, Oli attended around a dozen programmes in Jhapa. He repeatedly requested the Nepali Congress to join the campaign for national development.
In Gauriganj, Oli asked other parties and their leaders not to obstruct efforts made for the country’s development on the pretext of cast, religion and geography.
Oli promised to treat all the communities with respect, without discriminating against anyone for not agreeing with his party.
The former prime minister said he would make efforts to implement the plans incorporated in the joint manifesto. The UML chairman promised the people building embankments and upgrade roads in the district.
The left alliance of the UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) has won comfortable majorities to form governments at the centre and in six of the seven provinces. As the chairman of the largest party, Oli is expected to be the prime minister.
