The federal parliament, which constitutes the HoR and the National Assembly, will be located at the International Convention (ICC) in Naya Baneshwor, which housed the Constituent Assembly since 2008.
The main hall will now have 334 seats in total to accommodate joint sessions of the Lower House and the Upper House.
According to Roj Nath Pandey, joint secretary at the secretariat, the works to repair the microphones and rearrangement of the seats have already been completed in the hall that will house the HoR.
Only carpeting of the hall and changing of seat covers remain to be completed, Pandey said. The secretariat is planning to use green carpet and seat covers for the HoR and red for the National Assembly.
“The remaining works is expected to be completed in a week once a formal decision on the choice of colour is made,” he told the Post. The secretariat has put the decision on hold as Parliament’s General Secretary is currently out of the country.
