Kimff draws to a close

The film Dhaulagiri, Ascenso a La Montana Blanca bagged the first prize under the International Competition category. Dhaulagiri, directed jointly by Guillermo Glass and Cristian Harbaruk, tells the story of a team of mountain climbers who deal with the loss of their friend during their accent of Mount Dhaulagiri.
In the same category, Sherpa Stew, the story of Sherpa migrants in Los Angeles, bagged the second prize while Singing with Angry Bird came third.
The films Mama (Mum) and The Last Honey Hunter received the Special Mention honour.
Likewise, in the Nepal Panaroma section, Jaalgedi
(A Curious Girl) was honoured with the Best Fiction title. Directed by Rajesh Prasad Khatri, Jaalgedi brings to screen a story from Mugu, where the curiosity of the titular Jaalgedi, a young girl, invites disaster to the family. In the same category, Gyalmu’s House was honoured with the Best Non-fiction title. In the same category, Jha Lo (Year of the Bird) received the Speical Jury Mention.
The 15th edition of Kimff hosted the screening of 80 films from 37 countries—the screened film’s subjects ranging from mountain climbing and adventure sports to anthropological exploration.
