Spokesperson for the Nepal Police Deputy Inspector General Manoj Neupane said they are trying to get to the root of the incident.
“We are trying to understand the cause of violence when a farewell programme was under way,” said DIG Neupane. “However, claims that the Myadi’s did not get full salary are baseless. We had asked all of them to open a bank account and the salary was transferred directly to their respective accounts.”
DIG Neupane said the allowance, however, differed based on the geographical location of the areas.
Temporary policeman Bibek Aidi was shot dead by police on Friday during a protest against alleged pay cut. The 22-year-old, a native of Raskot Municipality in the district, was shot in his head.
The government has already formed a probe committee to look into the death of Myadi police. The four-member committee, chaired by Joint Secretary at the Home Ministry Man Bahadur Biswokarma, includes Nepal Police DIG Ramesh Kharel, APF DIG Prabin Shrestha and National Investigation Department’s Laxman Gurung.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within seven days.
