Dr KC begins 14th hunger strike

Dr KC made the decision following a Supreme Court order directing TU to reinstate Dr Shashi Sharma as the dean of Institute of Medicine (IoM).
Speaking during a press meet on Monday, Dr KC accused the chief justice of being 'a corrupt individual having links with mafia'.
Dr KC, who has put forth five-point demand this time, has sought the resignation of CJ Parajuli and a probe into his conduct.
His other demands include—formation of Medical Education Commission, continue the tenure of Dr JP Ajrawal as the Dean of IoM, sack TU officials including Dr Shahsi Sharma.
The crusader has already staged 13 rounds of hunger strikes demanding reforms in the country’s health education and medical sector.
A division bench of Chief Justice Parajuli and Justice Dipak Kumar Karki, hearing on a writ petition filed by Dr Sharma against his removal from the post without citing any concrete reason, had issued an order to Tribhuvan University to reinstate Sharma as IoM dean on Sunday.
The TU Executive Council on January 10, 2014 had appointed Dr Sharma as the Dean of IoM. But after Dr KC's hunger strike and widespread criticisms from various quarters, the then Chairman of the Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi had ordered TU to relieve Sharma as IoM dean on January 22, 2014.
