The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered Nepal Police to present Dr Govinda KC before the court at 9 am Tuesday.

A single bench of SC Justice Dambar Bahadur Shahi directed the police to present Dr KC before the court on a contempt of court case. The statement issued by Dr KC and the news reports published in online media are rude and scornful at the judiciary and justice and falls in the ambit of contempt of court, the court statement read.

Earlier today, SC section officer Netra Bandhu Poudel lodged a contempt of court case against Dr KC.

Dr KC began his 14th hunger strike on Monday demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli.

Dr KC, who had staged 13 rounds of hunger strikes in past demanding reforms in country's health education and medical sector, resorted to the strike following a Supreme Court order directing TU to reinstate Dr Shashi Sharma as the dean of Institute of Medicine (IoM).

Speaking at a press meet today, Dr KC had accused the chief justice of being 'a corrupt individual having links with mafia'.
