UML chair: Deuba govt trying to prolong tenure
CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has left for Thailand on Wednesday for a follow-up on his medical treatment.CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has left for Thailand on Wednesday for a follow-up on his medical treatment.
Speaking to media persons at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Oli blamed the Sher Bahadur Deuba government of trying to prolong its tenure by delaying announcement of temporary provincial capitals and appointment of provincial chiefs.
“It is the duty of the government to name provincial capitals and appoint provincial chiefs. But it is delaying these tasks to prolong its stay at the helm,” Oli said.
Expressing his dissatisfaction at the delay in formation of a new government, he said, “The incumbent government is dilly-dallying the essential tasks on different pretexts. Earlier, it brought up the issue of National Assembly Ordinance, and now the one concerning province capitals. The government is only trying to extend its tenure.”
Urging the Election Commission not to bow to the government pressure, Oli called on the poll body to publish the results of the proportional electoral system immediately. When asked about the possible date for unification with CPN (Maoist Centre), the UML chief said that it would be concluded within 20 days.
“We are focused on management of people. Let’s not worry about leadership management. The party unification process will be concluded within 20 days from now,” Oli said.
“The unification process will gain momentum once I return from Bangkok,” he added.
