The CPN-UML has decided to nominate only those candidates who didn’t contest in the local, federal parliamentary and provincial assembly and weren’t included in the party’s proportional representation category for the National Assembly election.

The party finalised the criteria and recommendation procedure for the candidacy of National Assembly (NA) election on Friday.

Political parties are required to nominate the NA candidates by January 19. The UML has said that its Province Organisation Committee will recommend the names. Likewise, the UML secretariat has said that the Committee will impart trainings on Single Transferable Voting System (STV) to its electoral college who will cast their votes in the NA elections.

The UML Secretariat meeting has also drawn the government attention towards the incidents of cold-related deaths in Tarai. It called on government to provide warm clothes, firewood and relief materials to the victims at the earliest.
