Local traders, cadres of various political parties and local people took part in the demonstration organised by the Provincial Capital Stakeholder Committee.
The rally which started from the office of Dang Chamber of Commerce and Industry converged into a corner assembly at Tulsipur Chok.
Addressing the assembly, Nepali Congress District Secretary Shankar Dangi said that another alternative should not be searched as Dang is capable of handling all the works a capital needs to do.
Similarly, CPN (Maoist Centre) district Assistant In-Charge Nirmal Acharya said that they would continue the protest until the government declared Dang as the temporary capital of Province 5.
Likewise, CPN-UML district member Bibek Shrestha opined that Dang should be declared the provincial capital as it close of the all the districts.
During the programme, Provincial Capital Stakeholder Committee Coordinator and Dang Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Narayan Bhusal said that Dang should be declared the provincial capital as the district has necessary buildings, peace and security.
Meanwhile, normal life in the Dang district has been affected due to an indefinite general strike called by the residents of the district demanding that Dang be declared the capital of Province 5.

The strike has brought transportation to a grinding halt while education institutions, shops and industries have remained closed.
The protesters have also burnt tyres in different junctions.The East-West Highway has been completely obstructed.
