Prajapati, who was then a ninth grader studying at Sherwood College in Nainital, India, allegedly died due to negligence of the college at a local hospital in Noida on November 15, 2014.
Though Sherwood College is a nearly 150-year-old institution, and purportedly counted amongst India’s best schools, this did not stop the administration—and specifically principal Amandeep Sandhu—from allegedly committing gross negligence that resulted in poor Shaan’s death. Sandhu failed to timely inform Shaan’s guardian of the seriousness of his pneumonia, and allegedly down-played the seriousness of the disease.
Sandhu, who has been charge-sheeted, remains principal at Sherwood—something numerous Sherwood alumnis in India and Nepal condemn. Protesters have given a ten-day ultimatum to the Indian court for sending the principal behind bars.
