Shankar Pokharel likely to be Province 5 Chief Minister
CPN-UML leader Shankar Pokhrel, who was elected to Province 5 Provincial Assembly member, has been appointed the party’s Parliamentary Party leader in the Province 5. With the appointment, Pokharel has emerged as the frontrunner candidate for CM post.
Parliamentarian Baidhnath Chaudhary proposed Pokharel’s name for PP leader in the meeting today, while parliamentarian from Rupandehi Lila Giri seconded the proposal.
Meanwhile, lawmaker Bhumishwor Dhakal of Rupandehi has been nominated as the CPN-UML’s chief whip.
Following his nomination, leader Pokharel called on everyone to lend support saying that he is taking leadership of the Province from zero level. He said that he will prioritise consensus-based politics although the left alliance will form government in the Province.
“I will move ahead with the parliament and government formation based on consensus and cooperation,” said Pokharel.
