The performance, which included songs, dances, and three plays, was the culmination of the 15-day children’s winter art camp facilitated by the Sarwanan Theatre Group. The performances touched on the themes of child labour, world peace, and environmental protection.
Speaking at the end of the performance, Professor Sabitri Kakshapati commended the children for their performances and said that when children engage with theatre at an early age, it ensures the continuation of theatre activities in the country. Along with the theatrical performances, the children also put up an art exhibition, where the exhibits were made from discarded trash.
Aside from learning performing skills, engaging children in the arts also makes them aware of the burning critical issues of the present times. Raj Shah of Sarwanam theatre said that his theatre group will continue bringing out programs that is focused on children’s theatre. “Next time it will be bigger and better,” he said.
