Of the eight persons involved in the robbery, four were arrested from Boudha in the Capital on Tuesday, said Inspector Bharat Thapa of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD).
The arrestees are Bhoj Bahadur Thapa Magar, Ratna Bahadur Tamang, Amrit Tamang and Sanu Kancha Blon.
Police said Rohit Bahadur Thapa Magar, Dirgha Bahadur Tamang and a thrid man identified only as Binod are on the run.
Eight masked men had broken into the house of Ram Bahadur Tamang in Sipadol of Suryabinayak Municipality-8, Bhaktapur, held Ram Bahadur and his family hostage at gunpoint and decamped with cash and valuables worth around Rs 1.6 million.
Police have confiscated six tolas of gold, a mobile phone and a motorbike (Ba 83 Pa 3773) from the suspects, who are being held in custody of the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, for investigation.
According to a preliminary investigation, Bhoj Bahadur Thapa and Ratna Bahadur Tamang had already spent time in jail on various robbery and theft cases. They were released under the Republic Day clemency programme last year.
