Elderly man killed in Bhaktapur mini-truck hit
An elderly man died after being hit by a mini-truck in Bhaktapur on Wednesday.An elderly man died after being hit by a mini-truck in Bhaktapur on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Jagat Kumar Shrestha, 66, of Madhyapur Thimi-5.
The mini-truck (Ba 2 Ka 8006) heading towards Bhaktapur from Kathmandu hit Shrestha while he was crossing the road this morning.
According to Shrestha’s relative Raju Shrestha, the incident occurred due to the negligence of the driver.
Following the incident, kith and kin of the victim obstructed Suryabinayak-Tinkune and Koteshwor-Pepsicola road section along the Araniko Highway demanding stern action against the driver
The body of Shrestha has been kept at the Bhaktapur Hospital for postmortem.
Police said that they have impounded the vehicle and arrested its driver Prem Bahadur Moktan, 29, of Sisakhani, Kavre and currently residing in Jagati, Suryabinayak Municipality-8, for investigation.
