Khem Nepali elected under Dalit quota in Province 1
CPN-UML candidate Khem Nepali has been elected as National Assembly member under Dalit quota from Province 1.CPN-UML candidate Khem Nepali has been elected as National Assembly member under Dalit quota from Province 1.
He mustered 6,270 votes while his closest contender Bin Kumar Bishwokarma of Nepali Congress garnered 2,832 votes, Election Officer’s office informed.
Nepali had filed his candidacy in the National Assembly election after resigning from the post of Nayab Subba (Non-gazetted officer) of Biratnagar Metropolitan City.
Agam Prasad Bantawa Rai has been elected under the differently-abled/marginalised quota.
He acquired 6,138 votes while his rival candidate Mahesh Kumar Jaju of Nepali Congress got 2,898 votes. It has been learnt that 12 votes have been declared invalid.
Among the eight members, three from open, three women, one Dalit, one disabled or backward/minority category have already been elected unopposed in Province 1 while the election for only disabled or backward/minority category and Dalit category was held from 10 am to 3 pm today.
