NA election concludes peacefully, 100% turnout in Province 3

According to the EC, final results of the elections, held on the basis of single transferable voting system, are likely to come by tomorrow morning. The EC has already sent a team of experts to six provinces to conduct the vote counts.
The National Assembly, the Upper House of federal parliament, has 59 members. Out of them, 56 members are elected by the electoral college at the rate of eight members, including at least three women, one Dalit and one from among the disabled or minority communities, from each province. The President nominates three members including a woman to the National Assembly on the recommendation of the government.
The election was held only in six provinces today as all the NA members from Province-2 have already been elected unopposed, according to Election Commissioner Ishwari Prasad Poudel. Voting took place from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Twenty four members have already been elected unopposed from all the provinces. Fifty-two candidates are in the race for remaining 32 seats in the National Assembly in the election today.
A total of 1,677 people including 1,234 local level officials and 443 State Assembly members were eligible to vote in the election.
The polling stations were set up at the public places near to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer in Biratnagar (Province 1), Patan, Lalitpur (Province 3), Pokhara (Province 4), Dang (Province 5), Surkhet (Province 6) and Doti (Province 7).
100 per cent voter turnout in province no 3
The Province no 3 saw 100 per cent voter turnout in the NA election today, according to the Office of the Election Officer.
Election Officer Bal Mukunda Dawadi told Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) that 100 per cent votes were cast till 3:00 pm. The Office of the Election Officer has made necessary preparation for vote counting in order to get results by tonight, he added.
The vote count of Province no 3 will take place at Lalitpur-based Local Development Training Centre. There were 348 voters for NA poll from Province 3. A total of 14 candidates are in the race for eight seats from this province comprising 13 districts.
