NPGA Classic tees off at RNGC today

The first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament will be played at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) before switching to Gokarna Golf Club for the final round. The pro-am event will be held on Saturday in Gokarna. Pilot golfers Captain Rabindra Purush Dhakal, Captain Deepak Thapaliya and Captain Vijay Pratap Singh are the title sponsors of the tournament. This event was initiated by the Pilot golfers in 2007 and continued until 2009. It has been revived from this year and will now be on the annual calender of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour.
In all, 31 professional golfers including top players Shiva Ram Shrestha, Sanjay Lama, and Bhuwan Nagarkoti will be in the fray for the title. Thirteen amateur golfers are also taking part in the tournament including Subash Ghising, Binod Tamang, Jiwan Rai and lady golfer Pratima Sherpa. There will be not cut in the event but only top 21 pros and ties are entitled for cash rewards.
The eventual champion will earn Rs 55,000. The second-placed pro will receive Rs 37,000 and third-place golfer will get Rs 25,000 in the tournament that offers Rs 300,000 in total cash prize.
