The Pokhara-bound tanker (Ba 4 Kha 6953) fell into the river after it collided with a truck (Na 7 Kha 4314) head-on. Superintendent of Police Dipak Thapa said that the tanker had fallen some 100 metres from the road.
Police identified the deceased as tanker driver Santa Bahadur Kumal of Kolhuwa in Nawalparasi and his assistant Lila Bahadur Kumal of the same place.
Nepal Police personnel and members of the Armed Police Force Disaster Management Training Centre in Kurintar reached the site after the incident. The rescuers took out the bodies trapped inside the vehicle.
Meanwhile, one Krishna Gurung died when a loader hit him near Pokhara Bus Park. Critically injured Gurung died while being taken to hospital, said police.
