Oli lays claim for premiership before President

Oli and senior leaders of UML and CPN (Maoist Center) reached President’s residence in Sheetal Niwas on Thursday and presented his claim for the PM post, informed President’s personal aide Bhesraj Adhikari.
Article 76 of the provision states in case of no clear majority of any party in the House of Representatives, the President shall appoint as Prime Minister the member of the House of Representatives who can have the majority with the support of two or more political parties represented in the House of Representatives.
The left alliance has a clear majority in the House of Representatives. Oli will take over as the PM for the second time after UML and CPN (Maoist Center) submitted a letter of support to President Bidya Devi Bhandari. The President is likely to appoint a new PM today itself.
Senior UML leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Ishwor Pokharel, Subash Nembang and Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and leaders Narayan Kaji Shrestha, among other leaders, had reached Sheetal Niwas today.
