A joint task force formed by the left alliance to formulate the new government’s priorities is preparing to finalise its report on Saturday.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, as soon as he assumed office on Thursday evening, announced good governance and development projects among his government’s priorities.Based on the election manifesto of the left alliance, the panel led by UML leader Bamdev Gautam is setting the priorities for the prime minister.
Bijay Poudel, a member of the task force, presented a probable list of priorities for Prime Minister Oli:
- Annulling all the political decisions made by the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government after the polls
- Amendment to the Public Procurement Act for completing development projects faster
- Making cooperatives more powerful
- Promoting schools run by cooperatives, instead of private schools
- Developing industrial districts at all the provinces
- Promoting technical education by establishing a polytechnic university
- Promoting large development projects and renewable energy
- Focusing on various periodic plans as promised by the left alliance in its manifesto (PR)
