Police stop CPN event in Biratnagar

The arrests were made at different parts of Morang and Sunsari districts. CPN Morang district in-charge Pushkar Shrestha, the party’s standing committee member Hemanta Prasad Oli and politburo member Padam Rai were among the arrestees.
Police also raided the venue where the national conference was due to convene and rounded scores of CPN supporters and seized one vehicle.
DSP Bishnuhari Koirala said police also stopped around 300 people from entering Biratnagar through various entry points to participate in the party’s event.
The CPN leaders and activists were detained as a measure to keep law and order, the DSP said, noting that the party has a long record of perpetrating anarchic
activities.
