Army make two victories in row

In their home match at TAC headquarters in Bhadrakali, Army rode on 17 points and six assists from Rabin Khatri to register an important victory. They have six points from two games at the top of the table. In the early match of the day, South Siders Basketball Club blew away a 16-point lead in the third quarter to lose away to Team Budhanilkantha Municipality (TBM) 59-56 in Golfutaar.
In Bhadrakali, it was Golden Gate who took 22-19 lead in the game before the Armymen bounced back in the second. The departmental team scored 13 in the second period and stopped GGIC on six to go into the second half with a narrow four-point cushion. The momentum completely shifted towards TAC after scored a whooping 27 points in the third quarter when GGIC could only add 12.
The final quarter ended 19-10 with TAC also ending up as the leaders. Bikram Joshi, who scored 11 points, was awarded the player of the game for his good defence. Sadish Pradhan also tossed in 16 points for TAC, while Ayush Singh had 10 rebounds and nine points. Binod Maharjan, the only man with a triple double so far in the tournament, has nine rebounds.
Earlier in a morning game in Golfutaar, South Siders were in the driving seat when they began the day with a 22-6 lead in the first quarter. TBM managed to reduce the deficit by just two points leading the second quarter 16-14. However, the hosts were still trailing by 14 points at one stage in the third quarter which they ultimately managed to dominate.
South Siders scored just two points in the third quarter and TBM sunk in 17. They went on to lead with eight points with two minutes left and in an eventful final moments South Siders trimmed down TBM’s lead to one point. But South Siders missed four free shots to hand over the game to an inexperienced TBM side.
Bijay Rana and player of the match Tejendra Gurung scored 16 each for TBM. Rana had seven assists and seven rebounds. Nirav Chand had nine rebounds and four blocks. Sanjay Byanjankar tossed in 17 points and had three assists for South Siders. Rabin Gautam scored 15 points, while Avi Rajkarnikar rolled in three three-pointers in his 12 points. He also had four rebounds. In the only match on Tuesday, Bishal Milan Kendra will play away to Himalayan Hounds.
