Ethnographic writing fellowship announced

The fellowship is provided by La.lit, in parternship with the Open Institute for Social Science. Under the fellowship, up to six fellowships will be awarded for a period of six months, “to help emerging and established Nepali writers and Nepal residents immerse themselves in a field context to capture facets of the socieities, cultures and environments,” states a press note issued by the magazine. The note further states, “The objective of the NEW Fellowships is to go beyond the conventional descriptions of sepcific places or communities in Nepal to delve into the complexities and textures of the modern Nepali experience.”
Founded in 2012, La.lit has so far published eight volumes; the magazine’s latest issue, Translation from the Margins, featured the English translation of works from Nepali and various Nepali ethnic languages, including interviews with eminent Nepali litterateurs.
