A Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday morning had recommended Yubaraj Khatiwada, Bimala Poudel and Ram Narayan Bidari for nomination as NA members.
The NC leaders raised a question mark over President Bhandari’s role of not implementing the recommendation made by erstwhile NC led government three weeks ago, while immediately approving the names recommended by CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli led government.
Claiming that the President’s move has reflected her political inclination, the NC said that the institution, which is the protector of the constitution, has violated the spirit of the constitution.
President Bhandari had been putting on hold the recommendation made by the erstwhile Deuba-led government two weeks ago. She approved the names recommended by incumbent government led by KP Oli.
According to the constitutional provision, the government can nominate three members to 59-member NA.
At a press meet in Kathmandu on Tuesday, NC spokesperson Bishwor Prakash Sharma said his party will strongly raise the voice in the parliament and the street against the president’s unconstitutional step.
