Merkel, Abe congratulate Oli on his election to high office

Feb 22, 2018-German Chancellor Angela Merkel has sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on his election to the high office.

In her congratulatory note, Chancellor Merkel has expressed readiness to work together with Prime Minister Oli for the cause of democracy and prosperity.

Chancellor Merkel said in her message, “Your appointment as Nepal’s Prime Minister is a milestone for democracy in Nepal. The Nepalese people have given themselves a government that can secure the country’s long-awaited political stability.”

Nepal now has great opportunities to develop its economy for the benefit of the people, she said, equally important are the opportunities to consolidate the rule of law so that the wounds of the past can heal and the country’s economic development is given a good foundation.

Merkel said that Germany is looking forward to developing a solid partnership with Nepal and with you. “After 60 years of diplomatic relations, we can now look forward together to a promising future.” Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Sharma Oli on his assumption of the office as the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

In his message, Japanese Prime Minister Abe said Nepal is making a solid progress toward consolidating democracy following the first elections of the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assemblies held last December and this February under the new constitution. He sincerely hoped the political process will proceed smoothly under Oli’s strong leadership as the first Prime Minister in the new federal government.

PM Abe further assured that Japan will continue to support Nepal’s efforts to consolidate democracy and to “Build Back Better” from the earthquake disaster, a statement released by the Japanese Embassy in Nepal reads.

Prime Minister Abe also said in his message that he looks forward to actively co-operating with Oli to further develop the cordial relations between the two countries.
