Lamichhane gets financial boost from sponsor Sanima

Sanima had tied up with Lamichhane as his sponsor for two years and the bank had been providing the Indian Premier League (IPL)-bound Nepali cricketer with Rs 20,000 since July, 2016. Amidst a programme, Sanima Bank Chief Executive Officer Bhuwan Dahal announced that the company was going to double up the stipend.
“Sandeep has been sensational for the Nepali team. He has had a wonderful outing in ICC World Cricket League Division 2 in Namibia and finished up winning the man-of-the-series there. Its really great to see him getting a contract with IPL team Delhi Daredevils which he has earned because of his talent. I hope our gesture will motivate other corporate houses to follow the suit,” said Dahal.
After becoming the first Nepali cricketer to be signed up in the IPL, Lamichhane marked a memorable outing at Division 2 finish as the joint leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets that included his maiden five-for in List ‘A’ which came against Kenya. Lamichhane said this is just the beginning of his career. “I am really happy that my achievements are recognizing Nepal in the global stage,” said Lamichhane.
“But I have a long way to go in my career. I would like to thank Sanima Bank for motivating me with this new deal. We are now heading towards an important tournament in our cricket history and I will try to give my best for the country,” added the teen bowler who will fly with Nepali squad on Saturday for March 4-25 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
Sanima Bank ambassadors and comedians Madan Krishna Shrestha and Haribansha Acharya, national team skipper Paras Khadka and Cricket Players’ Association, Nepal President Pawan Agrawal also attended the programme.
Airee gets sponsors
Global IME Bank on Thursday became the sponsors of the national team middle order batsman Dipendra Singh Airee. The U-19 captain and Global IME have agreed to a one-year sports scholarship deal worth Rs 400,000. Of the total amount, Airee will get Rs 20,000 monthly, while rest will cover his cricket kits expenses. Global IME Chief Executive Officer Janak Sharma Paudel and Airee signed the agreement papers. The deal was possible following an initiation from Cricket Players Association, Nepal.
KC rewarded
The government of Province 4 on Wednesday declared reward of Rs 100,000 for the national team fast bowling allrounder Karan KC. Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Ram Sharan Basnet the rewarded for playing a key role in handing Nepal a place in next month’s ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. In a must-win last league match against Canada, KC almost did the unthinkable smashing a 31-ball 42 to help Nepal reach 195-run target in the last ball.
