Lamichhane, who on Saturday left for the national cricket team for an all-important ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers beginning from March 4 in Zimbabwe, recently made global headlines after he was picked up by Indian Premier League (IPL) outfit Delhi Daredevils on January 28.
The teen star himself confirmed about his listing among the draft players of the tournament which will also see top notch cricketers from across the globe vying in the tournament. He was also listed among the draft players in the Bangladesh Premier League and Pakistani Super League.
The CPL draft will take place in London on March 1 with the six franchises picking up the players to complete the line-up. A total of 227 players from outside the West Indies have registered for draft including Canada, USA, Oman, Hong Kong, Scotland, United Arab Emirates and Kenya among non-Test playing nations.
After hitting the limelight through the 2016 ICC U-19 World Cup, Lamichhane has been the most talked of Nepali player globally. He became the fifth cricketer to take a hat-trick in the U-19 World Cup which he did against Ireland in Bangladesh in a five-wicket haul.
In a short span of time, he has already cemented his place in the national team and has been even instrumental in the tournaments that he played from the senior side. He has had a successful outing in the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 in Namibia where he ended up as the player-of-the-series. He finished the tournament as joint leading wicket taker with 17 scalps. His figures of 5-20 from 10 overs against Kenya is the best for Nepal in List ‘A’ cricket.
