Kwiks Basketball League: TAC stretch lead as Hounds stun GGIC

At the Army Headquarters in Bhadrakali, the Armymen defeated Team Budhanilkantha Municipality (TBM) 89-76 with national team skipper Sadish Pradhan netting 25 points. TAC are leading the table with 12 points and behind them are Kirtipur Basketball Team, also unbeaten, on nine points.
With a less experienced side, TBM managed to give TAC a good fight in the game after the hosts only managed to take a three-point (24-21) lead in the first quarter. TAC stretched the lead to 11 points scoring 21 to that of 13 from TBM. The visitors then bounced back to lead the third quarter 28-23 to stay in the game with just six-point deficit heading into the decider.
But a star-studded TAC took the final period 21-14 to condemn TBM to second loss in a row. Pradhan also had four rebounds and two assists, while Rabin Khatri continued to be an integral part in TAC’s victory scoring 20 points, taking five rebound and making two assists.
Ayush Singh also chipped in 15 points, while veteran Ajay Manandhar scored 12 points and had six rebounds. Tejendra Gurung netted 17 points for TBM and Milan Malla scored 14 points. Biraj Rana had nine points and nine rebounds.
Hounds were the surprise winners of the day after they stunned star-studded GGIC at their home 78-73 with Saurav Shrestha making the biggest impact. He scored 34 points , took taking seven rebounds and had three assists. Hounds went ahead 19-15 in the first quarter but GGIC snatched the lead from them controlling the second quarter 23-12.
Hounds came back in the third period gaining a 24-21 lead to blow the game open with a four-point deficit heading into the decider. They then scored 23 points in the final quarter and restricted GGIC to 14 for an important away victory. Bijay Burja was also pivotal in Hounds’ victory as he netted 23 points.
