Speaking at a memorial assembly organised on Monday at the party central office in Dhumbarahi on the 45th memorial day of five martyrs who were killed during the Jhapa movement, PM Oli said that his party is committed to take the unification process ahead carefully as the UML had led various communist movements in the past and has been working actively to take the country on the path of prosperity.
He said that the country came to the present federal democratic republic with the sacrifices of martyrs and expressed his commitment that the government would work to fulfill their aspirations for social justice and equality through a democratic way.
Leaders of Jhapa movement Ram Nath Dahal, Netra Ghimire, Birensingh Rajbansi, Krishna Kuinkel and Narayan Shrestha were murdered in Sukhani Jungle, border of Jhapa and Ilam, on March 4, 1973.
Party senior leaders Jhalanath Khanal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gutam, Jhapa Movement leader Radha Krishna Mainali and family members of the martyrs were present in the programme.
