Afghanistan achieved the 195-run target without much difficulties and with over 11 overs remaining.
Najibullah Zadran scored an unbeaten 52 to register the victory. Earlier Rahmat Shah also scored 46 for Afghanistan. Dipendra Singh Airee claimed two wickets for Nepal.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, a half-century by Paras Khadka helped Nepal post a 194 runs total. Dipendra Singh Airee’s 32 and 23 each by Gyanendra Malla and Aarif Sheikh were the only double-digit score by Nepali batsmen.
Mohammad Nabi claimed four wickets for Afghanistan while spinner Rashid Khan had three.
Nepal will play their match against Hong Kong on Monday.
The top two teams from the 10-nation Qualifier will book their berths for next year’s World Cup in England. Top three teams from each of the two pools will advance to the Super Six round where three slots as an ODI nation are up for grabs. The top three Associate teams—barring Ireland, Afghanistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe who are Full ICC members—will join World Cricket League Championship winners the Netherlands in earning ODI status until 2022.
