The music video—what the producers called a “friendship anthem”—also features Ojha alongside actors/dancers Suchana Paudel, Sweta Paudel, Prabha Dawadi, Amit Bajracharya, Yogesh Karki, and Pradeep Lama, among others. Deepson Pariyar, Nirmal Neupane and child artists Sujan Pokhrel and Sameer Tamang have also featured in the music video.
“The song celebrates the childhood friendship between two adults and the abiding nostalgia,” the producers said in a statement.
The video is directed by Pradeep Lama, choreographer and co-founder of the popular production company The NEXT, based in Australia. With millions of hits on YouTube, The NEXT has already been a familiar name among Nepali music lovers for their creative cover dance performances and other original items. The music arrangement and mixing of the song is done by Pradeep Joshi. The screenplay is written jointly by Saagar Raaj and Amit Bajracharya. Raaj is also the music director of the song.
“This is the first project that we did in Nepal... It took some time but we are glad that the video is finally hitting the airwaves. The video is our way of celebrating our friendship, and we hope that many others will relate to this,” said Pradeep Lama, director and choreographer.
The song also marks the musical debut of professional journalist Anup Ojha. As a journo, Ojha has had extensive experience writing music reviews, covering concerts, interviewing famed artists and celebrities from both the national and international music scene.
Sharing his excitement over his first song, Ojha said, “I am happy to have completed my first song. It couldn’t be better than this song which celebrates a beautiful friendship. I hope millions of Nepalis living abroad, far from their friends and loved ones, can relate to this song, and feel nostalgic about their childhood experiences.”
The video for Wari ko Dada Ma Ma is the seventh project of Sydney-based Nepali production group, The NEXT. Prior to this, The NEXT has produced music videos for Mai Nache Chham Chhami, Funtastic, Mitho, Yo Ke Vayo, and to Ghin Ghin Bajo among others. One video in particular, Jaalma, was an immense hit as it garnered over seven million views on Youtube.
