Justices should disclose property details: Law Minister Tamang

He expressed his dissatisfaction that the chief justices and justices have not disclosed their property details in recent years. He announced to enact law making it mandatory for justices to disclose their property details.
“If there is no law, we should enact it,” said Minister Tamang, speaking before media for the first time after becoming the minister. “Anyone who occupies a public post should be transparent.”
Tamang, who submitted his property details three days after becoming the minister, said all the public figure from Prime Minister to Ward Chairmen, and from general civil staff to Chief Secretary, and from junior staff to Chief Justice of judicial sector must disclose their property details.
Property details of chief justices were made public on website until the tenure of former Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha. However, the custom of making public the property details of chief justices ended starting from the tenure of then Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi.
Minister Tamang also announced the action plan and priority of his ministry. The ministry has planned to complete the obligation of formulating all the laws before the deadline of September 19. According the new constitution of Nepal, the government has to either amend or enact new laws regarding 41 issues.
