Vice President Pun takes oath of office

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, who was re-elected unopposed for a second term, took the oath of office and secrecy on Monday.

At a special function organised at President’s office in Sheetal Niwas, President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath to Vice President Pun.

The Election Commission (EC) announced on Sunday that Pun was re-elected for the second term as no other person challenged his candidacy on Saturday. Pun was first elected the Vice President on October 31, 2015.

He was elected as Vice President for a five-year after he was the only candidate to file nominations for the post.

The ruling CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) had fielded Pun as the common candidate of the left alliance after President Bidya Devi Bhandari was re-elected on March 13.
