The tournament is so far the highest cash-prized event in Nepali domestic arena with the total cash purse of Rs 514,400, the organisers informed at a press conference on Friday. Over 100 players will be participating in the eight-day event which will give away the champion a Yamaha motorcycle worth Rs 188,900.
The second, third and fourth-placed team will pocket Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. The tournament will run until 11 rounds under the Swiss League format with the top four players after seven rounds will make it to the Super League. The Super League will be a knockout affair from where the winners will make it to the final and vie for the title.
The top five finishers in the women’s category will earn Rs 10,000, Rs 8,000, Rs 7,000, Rs 6,000 and Rs 5,000, while U-19 winner, best player with rating of 2,000, best local player, veteran and unrated will also get their share of cash prizes.
The tournament is organised to mark the 61st National Cooperative Day.
