President sad over unsolved Dasdhunga accident

President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday expressed her sadness that the cause of the Dasdhunga incident remains unsolved after so many years. The President made the remark while inaugurating the Madan Bhandari Museum, to honour her late husband. The new museum stands in Mangalbare, Urlabari Municipality-3 in Morang district.

Museum Chairman Guru Prasad Baral said, “The building, constructed at a cost of Rs 30 million, opens for the public on April 1.”

Nepal continues to progress on the ideology and vision espoused by Madan Bhandari, though he passed away long ago, the President said.

“We are now passing through both happy and sad moments. The museum honours Madan and the legacy of his work. I am feeling happy because of this, but it is sad that the reason behind the Dasdhunga incident remains unsolved. We lost a popular and capable ideologist at a young age,” she said.

The President said Madan Bhandari had played an important and historical role to convert the communist movement into democratic process after the people’s movement in 1989.

President Bhandari said, “The country is moving ahead on the path of Madan Bhandari’s ideology. The responsibility to fulfil the dream of Madan Bhandari to make the country prosperous rests on our shoulders.”
