Saying the joint taskforce on unification has already come up with report, Dahal said the merger between the two parties will be announced soon after the left alliance unification committee finalises the report.
Speaking at the meeting of CPN (Maoist Centre) Parliament Party on Wednesday, Chairman Dahal said the political report on party unification has been agreed but some of the issues related to statute need to be settled. There is a dispute over proportion of representatives from the two parties in the central committee of the united party. The CPN (Maoist Centre) has proposed sharing the party central committee on the basis of 50:50 ratio.
After the taskforce formed to draft the statute failed to settle the issue, it submitted its report recommending that the issue should be finalised by unification coordination committee.
He added that though the parties have agreed to have two chairmen at the centre, the issue of leadership at lower committees remain to be settled. Chairman Dahal said all the remaining issues will be settled through agreement.
Chairman Dahal underlined the need to be vigilant about possible attempts to foil the unification bid, though the unification process has reached the final stage. “There could be conspiracies to foil the unification, you need to take initiatives to deflect them,” Dahal told the meeting. The issue of parliamentary statute was discussed in the meet.
