After making a ministry level decision to this effect, the Ministry sent letters to the people’s representatives and staffers of all the three levels.
Office bearers and government staffers have been advised to mandatorily take permission from the ministry before embarking on foreign visits.
As the foreign visit in capacity of government representatives is a sensitive issue, the Ministry has urged the government officials of all levels to adopt a strict policy regarding the junket.
The Ministry’s attention has been drawn towards the foreign visits made by officials of local level and staffers without taking permission in recent time.
According to Under Secretary at the Ministry Narayan Prasad Risal, the Ministry has also sought documents about foreign visits made recently by the government officials. The people’s representatives and staffers have to submit the documents incorporating all the details of their visits within a week.
He said the Ministry has asked the details to know about the expenses of their visits.
The government officials and staffers can embark on foreign visits only after taking permission from the Ministry.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on March 7 had directed the officials and staffers of all the three levels to not embark on foreign junkets.
