“Some activities particularly of threatening the elected people’s representatives of the local units to resign cannot be taken as political ones,” said Minister Thapa during a press meet at Bharatpur Airport on Saturday. He said the government will control any activities that affect the peace and security in the country.
The CPN has asked the elected representatives of the local units in several districts to resigns. There are reports that the outfit has also been extorting people, mostly business community, in the name of donation.
Home Minister Thapa assured the government is ready to discuss the political issues raised by any groups. But he warned that no one has leverage to carry out non-political activities. “Home ministry has the responsibility to maintain peace in the country. We will work effectively to contain crimes and cater government services to the people,” he added.
Meanwhile, police intervened in a rally organised by four communist parties and detained 16 people in Dhangadhi, the district headquarters of Kailali, on Saturday.
