The deceased has been identified as 12-year-old Aman Chaudhary, son of local Baburam Chaudhary.
Arjun Khadayat, 13, Sagar Paneru, 12, and Nabin Kadayat, 12, were injured in the incident.
Sagar and Arjun are said to be in critical condition. They have been taken to Kathmandu for further treatment on Sunday.
According to DSP Bir Bahadur Buda of the District Police Office, Dhangadhi, the ambush was planted by pulling a wire from an electricity pole.
The incident occurred after the children accidently touched the high-voltage transmission line,” said DSP Buda. They are investigating into the incident, he added.
Binod Ghimire, Chief at District Police Office, Dhangadhi, said that they have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
He said that the Community Forest Consumer Committee should move ahead by making a special plan to curb such activities.
Jit Bahadur Rana, Chairman of the Community Forest Consumer Committee, said that the Community also needs help of forest and police administration to control the wildlife smuggling.
