Machindra Limbu (Maden) murdered his father Baburam by attacking with the sharp weapon in his head and legs over a dispute yesterday.
Following the incident, Limbu was arrested from Yau Me Tei last night.
Baburam, who was found unconscious in his room, was rescued by fire fighters by breaking the door.
After rescuing him, he was rushed to the Kwong Wah Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival at around 1 am on Monday.
“One of my neighbours had called me in the afternoon to inform me about the fight between my elder brother and father. I missed the call as I was at work,” said Baburam’s second son Bibek. “When I called later the neighbor told me my father was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood and I called police,” he added.
According to Bibek, the fire fighters were called after his father did not respond to the repeated knock at his room door.
“When the rescuers enter the room, my father was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood,” Bibek said, adding, “He might have been attacked with a kitchen knife.”
Baburam used to live with his youngest son at Manka-based Canton Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, Machindra murdered his father following a dispute over financial dealing.
One of the relatives of deceased said that Machindra and his father used to have fights almost regularly.
“Baburam could have been saved had he received treatment on time,” the relative said.
The Limbu family is a permanent resident of Jhapa. The deceased man's wife lives in Nepal.
