Former CJ Parajuli's pension book put on hold
The Department of Civil Personal Records has said the pension book of former Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli will be made only after he returns the additional facilities of seven months and nine days. The Department of Civil Personal Records (DCPR) has said the pension book of former Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli will be made only after he returns the additional facilities of seven months and nine days.
The DCPR wrote a letter to the Supreme Court stating that Parajuli should return the perks and salary he took from August 5, 2017, to March 14, 2018 in the capacity of CJ.
Nearly a month after his retirement, Parajuli has not been able to make the pension book. Parajuli had tendered his resignation from the top post of judiciary on March 15 following a controversy surrounding his date of birth.
‘After seeing all the documents, it has been found that Parajuli had retired on August 5,” a source at the DCPR said, adding, “There is a tradition to make the pension book only after the concerned civil employee returns the facilities after retirement.”
“The concerned office should also make a document of returning the government goods taken by an employee during service. That is why, the letter was sent to the Supreme Court,” the source said.
The Court administration, however, has not given any public reaction on the letter of DCPR.
While trying to inquire about the letter, General Managar of Department of Civil Personal Records Mana Maya Bhattarai Pangeni confirmed that the letter has been sent to the Supreme Court. Pangeni, however, did not divulge other details.
Director and Information Officer Rajendra Prasad Parajuli said the preparations are underway to make the pension book of Parajuli.
He said, “I have no knowledge about the letter,” adding, “He will get the pension book only after he returns the additional facilities.”
He used to draw Rs 75,000 in monthly salary including additional facilities.
