Two persons have been arrested in possession of IRs 493, 1500 of the banned denominations of Rs 1000 and 500 on Wednesday.
A police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, arrested Sunil Dev Vaishya of Morang and Chet Bahadur Nepali of Nuwakot from Lazimpat yesterday.
Police said that they confiscated 5,451 currency notes of Rs 500 denomination and 2,206 currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination.
Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, Chief Bishwo Raj Pokharel said that the two men cheated people and exchanged the money saying that the ban on these notes will be lifted after some time.
He said they collected the money in a big quantity from the border areas and brought to Kathmandu. RSS
