Speaking at the Reporters’ Club in the Capital on Sunday, Minister Pandit said the employees could be deputed to all the three levels—federal, provincial and local—as required.
The minister made it clear that the government had postponed the voluntary retirement system (VRS) offered to the civil servants due to a shortage of personnel. The yet-to-be-formed provincial Public Service Commissions would manage the employees in their own provinces.
He stressed the crucial role of government employees in this period of administrative transitional phase.
The government would give the civil servants 15 days to take up their assignments. Out of the over 9,000 civil servants who applied for the VRS, more than 1,200 have already retired, according to the minister.
