Govt to provide legal security for Nepalis in foreign jails

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, around 528 Nepalis are languishing in foreign jails.
A meeting presided over by Labour Minister Gokarna Bista who is also the Chairman of Foreign Employment Promotion Board has decided to provide legal service through Nepali Embassy.
The meeting has decided to appoint staffers who are well known about local people, law and language of the concerned countries.
“Nepalis are doing their time in foreign jails due to lack of legal security”, Bista said, adding, “The state should protect those citizens. We are working seriously for the same.”
The board has formed a task force to fix the standard to provide legal service.
The taskforce after holding discussion with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will fix standard within seven days.
Executive Director the Board Raghu Raj Kafle said that the nation has been failing to provide legal security to Nepalis languishing in foreign jails due to lack of defined criteria.
In a bid to ease the family members of the Nepali migrant workers, the Board has also decided to provide service from the province and local level.A high-level committee has been formed under the headship of the secretary of Labour Ministry for the same.
