Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali, who is on a five-day official visit to China, held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing on Wednesday.
During the meeting held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, the duo discussed bilateral relations and among other issues of mutual cooperation between Nepal-China.
On the occasion, Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councilor said China-Nepal-India, the three neighbouring countries, are natural allies connected by rivers and mountains.
Saying that China and India are the neighbours of Nepal, the Chinese Minister said the two countries should support Nepal in its development works. He, however, said that China and India should have a common understanding to support Nepal in its quest for prosperity and development.
Minister Gyawali said Nepal wants to take leverage its geographical advantage and connect China and India for better development. He said Nepal could be a bridge between two of the world's fastest growing economies and reap benefit from the development of its giant neighbours.
Moreover, Wang said Nepal could take advantage from cooperation and development of China and India.
Talking about Nepal’s vision of multidimensional cross-Himalaya connectivity network, Wang said as China-Nepal have signed BRI cooperation, the connectivity network falls under the part of BRI cooperation. He said BRI further covers links to ports, railways, highways, aviation, electricity and communications.
According to Wang, if such connectivity networks could be well developed, there could be a prospect for an economic corridor connecting China, Nepal and India.
Meanwhile, Minister Gyawali held a meeting with Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan today itself. The duo reportedly discussed Nepal-China relations and mutual interests.
